LATHAM, N.Y. (WTEN) – Firefighters were busy after a lightning strike on Building 9 of the Hudson Preserve Apartments Sunday evening.
Shortly before 6 p.m. they responded to 900 Beryl Way and found the roof ablaze.
Residents of the apartment, two adults and a child, were not at home, but one of the adults parents were visiting. They escaped the fire with their luggage, with the help of a neighbor.
The fire was knocked after approximately an hour. Damage was extensive and four families were displaced. One apartment suffered heavy fire damage, and three nearby suffered water damage.
Responding agencies included the Latham Fire Department, the Shaker Road Fire Department and the Boght Fire Department.
