Two security guards were shot early Friday morning in Prince George’s County, and one has died.

The guards were at the Central Garden Apartments complex on Cindy Lane in Capitol Heights. The shooting happened at about 1 a.m., Prince George’s County Police said on Twitter.

A resident told News4’s Megan McGrath that she heard five gunshots between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. Neighbors said the apartments have armed security guards that routinely patrol the area.

It’s not clear if the guards fired their weapons.

Police initially closed a number of roads in the area, including Central Avenue, though those road closures were open again by 5:20 a.m.
